I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I hold a license in New York, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Indiana, and Maryland.
I also have a master’s degree in general psychology and I’m a nationally board-certified counselor.
My Background
I have been in the mental health field for over ten years. My clients range from toddlers to senior citizens and have spanned many ethnicities.
Some reasons my clients have needed therapy have been for depression, substance abuse disorders, eating disorders, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, ADHD, relationship stress, and many more.
My passion is helping people manage stress, life transitions, find or enhance the quality of relationships, find fulfillment in life, love, and work.
I combine principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and social psychology into tips people can use in their everyday lives.
Ideally, the goal is for my clients and readers of this blog to feel as though they are a person who can effectively and calmly cope with their day to day lives while being as present as possible.
Professionally, I’ve worked in group practices and privately as a mental health counselor. After that, I joined the corporate world for a couple of years working with a behavioral health company providing substance use disorder and mental health management.
Currently, I work from home seeing clients strictly via webcam. It’s so convenient and amazing when you have two children who keep you extremely busy. Oh, it’s also convenient when there is an evil pandemic messing with our lives! I’m very lucky to have this option.
Fortunately, the career path I chose has helped me manage my own stress level and has provided me with endless material on how to stress less. It is important to me to keep up with what is currently trending and most effective in the field of mental health.
I really enjoy reading all kinds of articles/blogs and listening to podcasts. I also enjoy reading the comments and discussions that other people have. After all, that is what makes this blog matter.
My life has been blessed with a wonderful husband and a beautiful boy and girl. I love to go for walks and have new experiences with my family. Hanging out with my family and friends is my favorite pastime.
I’m blessed to enjoy my life to the fullest by choosing to prioritize my mental and physical health.
My Intentions
I hope to use this blog to educate and inform others about the many stress management skills that are available if you look in the right place.
It’s just as important to educate myself about managing stress as a millennial in today’s world. It’s one of those Socratic things where if you think you know it all you know nothing.
So, never stop challenging yourself and learning more when it comes to stress management.
Be patient with yourself and understand stress doesn’t go away over night.
However, it can certainly be managed. If this weren’t true, I wouldn’t have a job!
In the Past…
Growing up, my baseline was anxious and unsettled. Over time, I learned to manage this.
Immersing myself in positivity and making a conscious effort to choose not to keep engaging in the same behaviors that had caused me pain for years did not come easy. This is tiring, because it requires a lot of mental effort.
However, every time you manage to change a behavioral pattern by mastering a new skill you’ve learned, it is so rewarding. I don’t claim to be an authority on you. Alleviating stress is not “one size fits all.” Most importantly, you are unique and will handle stress in your own way.
Above all, the tips and suggestions on my blog page will serve as tools to try out and see what works for you. I’d love to help you on your journey to learning the gift of stressing less. Please feel free to leave questions or comments on articles that interest you and I’ll be sure to respond!
